Photos of roadside warbirds and museum collections are most welcome.
Photos of aircraft as they are currently displayed are great, but photos of airframes in previous markings, with past owners or during a restoration are fantastic as well. You can help document the history of airframes with photos!

    Airframe: LeVier Cosmic Wind, c/n 102, c/r N21C
Notes: I believe that this photo was taken much later that 1949. In 49 Miss Comic Wind was being raced as the hybridized #4 Minnow by Fish Salmon and painted Bronze with Cream White trim. Bob Downey would later purchase #6 Miss Comic Wind sometime in the late 50s or early 60s and would eventually rename the plane Ol Tiger and painting it red, white and blue before acquiring #14 Little Gem from Danny Sherman after Reno 64 and then renaming it as #14Ol Tiger. I believe this photo was taken at the 1962 National Air Show in Chino, CA.

Notes: Another great friend and fellow air racing nut was the late Bruce Fraites of Taylor, Michigan. Like Ollie anything related to the Beguine was the Holy Grail to him.

    Airframe: North American P-51C-5-NT Mustang, s/n 42-103757 USAAF, c/n 103-26311, c/r N4845N
Notes: It was through this photograph that I met one of my greatest friends and mentor. That would be the late Oliver Aldrich from Houston,Texas. Ollie had a love affair with both Beguine and J.D. Reed. He had 8 X 10 copies of this photo that he was selling for a very nominal fee at the 1986 Society Symposium in Cleveland, Ohio. Pretty sure that Bailey Studios took this photo of Ken Cooley flying Beguine over Houston in the summer of 1949.

    Airframe: Bell P-63C-5-BE Kingcobra, s/n 44-4126 USAAF, c/n 33-711, c/r N63231
Notes: This is Chuck Tuckers easter egg colored P-63 Kingcobra at the 1949 Cleveland Air Races. He qualified at 393 MPH which placed him in the Thompson Trophy Race. He flew the airplane to 3rd place in the Sohio Trophy race at a speed of 381 MPH. He would place 5th in the Thompson Trophy with a speed of 378 MPH. My good friend the late Ollie Aldrich interviewed Chuck in the late 1980s where he discussed what he did to this airplane in 1949. The late Bruce Dey published this interview in his Air Racing newsletter. Somewhere I have a copy and it is worth the read if you can find it. Emil Strasser photo.
