    Constructed as a Spitfire 24.

    20 June 1943

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n PK724.
    The components were built at Castle Bromwich for the Mk 22 standard and completed at South Marston as a Mk 24.

    27 February 1946

    First flight.
    Flown at South Marston.

    30 October 1946

    Transferred to 33 MU Lyneham.

    5 April 1949

    Transferred to Westland Aircraft Ltd.
    Sent to Westland for modifications.

    14 April 1949

    Sent to another location for further modification.

    31 January 1950

    Modifications complete.

    2 February 1950

    Waiting for the RAF to pick-up.

    9 February 1950

    Assigned to 9 MU, Cosford for storage.
    Sent to 9 MU for storage.

    From 4 November 1954 to By 1961

    Transferred to RAF Norton.
    Displayed at Norton as a gate guard.

    14 December 1954

    The airframe was designated non-effective.

    27 October 1955

    New serial number assigned: 7288M RAF

    4 November 1955

    Transferred to RAF Norton.
    Used for ground instruction.

    March 1961

    To 71 MU, Bicester.
    Overhauled and paint scheme changed from overall silver to camoflauge.

    From 1 December 1961 to By 1970

    Transferred to RAF Gaydon, Warwickshire.
    Displayed as a gate guardian.

    From 6 March 1967 to 1 May 1968

    Efforts were made to prepare the aiframe for use in the filming of the movie the Battle of Britain. In the end the airframe was not used.

    19 February 1970

    Dismantled at Gaydon in preparation for a move.

    20 February 1970

    Transported by ground. Delivered to RAF Finningley.
    Moved to Finningley.

    19 September 1970

    Displayed at Finningley and later prepared for display at Hendon.

    11 May 1971

    Transported by ground. Delivered to RAF Museum, Grahame Park Way, Hendon, London, England.
