    Constructed as a XIIIC1.
    Built by the Kellner et ses Fils piano works outside of Paris

    Circa October 1918

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Armee de Terre with s/n 16594.
    Did not see combat.

    Circa 1919

    Shipped to the United States with 434 other SPAD XIIIs after the Armistice, this aircraft went to San Diego, Calif., and a smaller, 150-hp Wright-Hispano engine replaced its Hispano-Suiza engine.

    By 1930

    To Captain Benjamin Kelsey.

    1930

    Flown to Roosevelt Field, Long Island, NY and abandoned.

    Circa 1932

    To Roosevelt Field Museum, Long Island, NY.

    1951

    To Cole Palen, Red Hook, NY.
    Purchased along with five other aircraft which formed the cornerstone of Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, NY.

    By 1956

    Assigned civil registration: N2030A

    October 1956

    First flight.
    First flight after restoration.

    1988

    Restored.
    Restored for static display by Gordon Bainbridge, marked as aircraft with the 95th Pursuit Squadron.

    1993

    Bequeathed to United States Air Force Museum by Mr. Palen upon his death.

    April 1996

    Transported by ground. Delivered to National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    Restored.
    The museum staff restored this SPAD XIII to its original configuration, including a 220-hp Hispano-Suiza engine.

    Markings Applied: S4523, 1
    Painted in the markings of Americas highest scoring ace of WWI with 26 victories, Capt. Edward V. Rickenbacker of the 94th Pursuit Squadron.
