Involved in an incident.
A major fire occurred in the number two left inboard wing pylon of severely damaging the aircraft. It took eight months to remove the engine and pylon, fair over the pylon mount. It took more than eight months for Travis maintainers to remove the number two engine and pylon from the damaged aircraft. Pylon was faired over to reduce drag during a 3-engine flight.

25 May 1977

Flew with three engines from Travis AFB, CA to Dobbins AFB, GA for repairs by Lockheed-Georgia.

20 June 1983

First C-5A to receive European I camouflage.

By November 1988

Transferred to 68th Airlift Squadron, 433rd Airlift Wing, Kelly AFB, TX.
